Despite the rain, hundreds hustled through Hillsboro Village Saturday morning to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House.

“We provide a home away from home for families that have critically ill children who are receiving care in a Nashville area hospital,” Executive Director Liz Piercy told Nashville's News 2.

The “Hustle for the House 5k and Fun Run,” now in its third year, drew more than 500 people and raised more than $30,000.

“That really goes to the bottom line of the Ronald McDonald House. It helps us to keep our doors open to pay our, you know, electric bill and water bill just like you and I have at home. We have those but we just have larger bills,” Piercy explained.

The Ronald McDonald house provides more than thirty rooms for families like Miles Monhollens.

“We came out because our daughter Sophia Reagan Monhollen was in Vanderbilt Children's Hospital and during that time we stayed at the Ronald McDonald House and you know, they were a great support system for us. We live about an hour from here and they just did so much for us so we are trying to do whatever we can to give back,” Monhollens told Nashville's News 2.
