A Brentwood police officer is being called a hero after saving the life of a suicidal woman.

Colin Lane stopped a 29-year-old female from taking her life last week at Crockett Park, according to a spokesperson for the Brentwood Police Department.

Lane responded to the suicide call Wednesday around 5 p.m.

When he arrived he found the woman in the woods.

She had apparently consumed cough medicine and alcohol and was armed with a knife.

Lane, who is trained in martial arts, was able to quickly get the weapon away from the woman and save her life.

“That's when her eyes just looked that way and it was a split second decision I took and I dove on top of her and as soon as I landed on top of her and secured the knife, I got a little cut on my arm, but that was the end of it. She did not resist or anything,” he recalled.

Lane has been a police officer for eight years and told News 2 he has been in similar situations before. He added he's thrilled the recent incident had a good outcome.

The woman does not face any charges.
