A silver Chevrolet sedan crashed behind a home on the Cumberland River in west Nashville Sunday afternoon.
Neighbors told News 2 the car was traveling down River Rouge Drive when the driver had some sort of medical emergency and drove down a driveway behind a home.
The vehicle hit an embankment, and continued into a tree.
The tree was the only thing blocking the vehicle from going into the Cumberland River.
Fire officials said the driver sustained head trauma and possibly a broken arm.
The driver was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
