A violent Nashville criminal who was released from prison just days ago is now back behind bars on charges of carjacking and resisting police.

Christopher Lewis, 28, whose multi-year prison sentence expired on August 25, is accused of confronting an east Nashville woman at the CVS Pharmacy located at 2516 Gallatin Pike.

As she was preparing to leave around 6:45 p.m., the 60-year-old victim reported that a gunman pulled her from her car.

The woman fought back and said Lewis pulled a gun on her. He then drove off in her car.

The victim was not seriously hurt.

A few hours later, at 9:25 p.m., undercover East Precinct police officers found the victim's car backed into a parking lot near Dickerson Pike and Ewing Lane.

Lewis was seated in the driver's seat and taken into custody.

A silver toy gun was recovered from the car.

Police said Lewis admitted to the carjacking and said that he was looking for someone else to rob when he was arrested.

According to criminal records, Lewis was convicted in July 2005 on four counts of facilitation of aggravated robbery for which he received four six-year sentences.  He was also convicted on two counts of aggravated assault for which he received two four-year sentences.

Bernice Badden told News 2 she frequently walks from her home in east Nashville to the CVS where the car jacking happened.

She said she may start having friends and family drive her to the store because of the incident.

“That makes me scared,” she said. “Things happen every day you have to be careful and you have to watch your surroundings.”

Lewis is now in the Metro jail on a $160,000 bond.

He is due in court September 11, at 9 a.m.
