A Mt. Juliet woman is recovering after being bitten by a dog in her neighborhood Friday evening.
Julie Rodriguez was walking her Labrador retriever puppy on Sydney Terrace when she says she noticed her neighbor's German shepherd running loose.
Rodriguez walked into the neighbor's yard to tell them their dog was out and that's when she says the German shepherd attacked her.
The dog knocked Rodriguez down and bit both of her legs. A friend Rodriguez was walking with began screaming and eventually the dog let her go.
Rodriguez was taken by ambulance to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where doctors told her the injury on her leg looked more like a “shark bite.”
“It's pain every day, it doesn't go away,” said Rodriguez.
Mt. Juliet police were called to the scene and the dog was quarantined for 10 days to see if it shows signs of rabies. The dog is current on all of its vaccines but Rodriguez worries it is a danger to the neighborhood.
“I hate that it's a family pet because I understand it would be hard for it to be put down but it's got to be put down. If it did this to me, it could do it again and again and again,” said Rodriguez.
Rodriguez says officers told her the owners would not be cited because the attack occurred on their property.
Nashville's News 2 left messages for the dog's owner but have not yet heard back.
