Clarksville police are hunting for two men a woman said raped her as she walked near downtown, Tuesday night.
The 18-year-old woman said she was walking alone along South First Street when she noticed two men standing near a light pole at the intersection of South First and West Washington.
The woman was on the phone with a friend and said the men started following her.
According to Clarksville police, the teen said her friend told her to return to the friend's home.
But, when she got to the intersection of West Washington and South First the men grabbed her.
She said one man held her down and the other man raped her.
A short time later the woman was found walking in the area partially clothed.
A neighbor called Police.
Police responded with a K-9 unit to track the suspects, but the dogs were unable to find them.
Paramedics took the woman to Gateway Medical Center for treatment and a rape kit.
She described her attackers as two black men.
One of the men appeared to be around 28-years-old, around six feet, three inches tall and weighing 170 pounds.
The other man is described as around 38-years-old, around five feet, 10 inches and weighing 220 pounds.
Neighbors said the attack is shocking for the area, because they experience very little crime.
“For that to happen here it really surprises me,” Eddie Bradford said. “We usually don't get that type of thing here.”
The neighborhood is right behind the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and near the Clarksville Police Department.
Bradford has lived in the neighborhood for 17 years. He said neighbors are close and watch out for one another.
“Not many younger people live here,” he said. “We don't have assaults, fights or anything. It's pretty atypical for this area.”
Anyone with information about the rape is asked to call crime stoppers in Clarksville at 931- 645-TIPS (8477).
