A man cutting a hayfield found a body in Lafayette on Monday afternoon.
William Driver's body was discovered in a field on Sneed Boulevard, the Macon County Times reported.
The newspaper reported Driver, who suffered from health issues, had only lived in Lafayette with family members since February.
Earlier this month the 53-year-old man was arrested for assault among other charges after he allegedly threatened a home health care nurse.
He was released from jail on August 14.
Driver's sister reported him missing following his release from jail and voiced her concerns about his health.
An autopsy is expected to be conducted to determine Driver's cause of death. Authorities said they believe Driver's body may have been at the field for as many as three days before being discovered.
No additional information was released. The investigation is ongoing.
