In an effort to ease traffic concerns for fair-goers, the Music City Star will add temporary lines to transport people to the Wilson County Fair.

The much anticipated fair kicks off on Friday with an expected 100,000 people the first night and 500,000 over the remaining nine days it's open.

“When you have over a half a million people to come and visit Lebanon and the Wilson County Fair, over a nine day period, you're going to have a little traffic congestion,” said Lebanon mayor Philip Craighead.

He continued, “Instead of getting caught in the traffic on I-40 coming up to our fair, we have hired the Music City Star.”

A temporary train stop and platform is being constructed just outside one of the entrances to the fair.

The city will hire shuttles for people who aren't able to walk the two blocks to the entrance.

“This is one way you can come and join us, let someone else do the driving and miss all that part, worrying about parking and all,” said Craighead.

The train will run on Saturday, August 17 and 24.

It leaves the station at 108th 1st Avenue in downtown Nashville, making regular stops at stations in Donelson, Hermitage, Mt Juliet and Lebanon, before stopping  at the front of the fair entrance at 946 East Baddour Parkway.

Train tickets are $20 for adults and children over the age of 12, $15 for children ages six to 12 and free for children under the age of five. The cost of the ticket also includes entrance to the fair.

The train will make two runs to the new Lebanon stop, leaving the downtown starting at 12:12 p.m. and arriving at 1:05 p.m.

A second run leaves the station at 3 p.m. and arrives at the gates at 4:05 p.m. It returns to Nashville at 9 p.m. when the fair ends.

Tickets are limited to 400 and must be purchased 48 hours ahead of time off the Wilson County Fair's Web site.

The Wilson County Fair runs through August 24.
