Maine game wardens continue searching for a Brentwood hiker who went missing on the Appalachian Trail two weeks ago, but will scale back their efforts.
Cpl. John MacDonald said in a statement Sunday night that no new evidence was found by game wardens and volunteers looking for Geraldine Largay, 66, and that the search will be “extensively scaled back.”
On Sunday, 115 people on foot and horseback concentrated on a 4.2-square-mile area.
The original search area covered more than 80 square miles, but searchers later narrowed the focus.
Largay’s husband, George, had been providing supplies and support for his wife’s hike from Harpers Ferry, W.Va., to Maine’s Baxter State Park.
He said she contacted him on July 21 from atop Saddleback Mountain and texted him again the following morning before disappearing.
