Two people have been charged after setting a car on fire Thursday evening in Murfreesboro.

Crews were dispatched to Steel Tech and Mi-tech Drive just before 11:00 p.m. after getting reports of a car fire.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered a car fully engulfed in flames in the middle of a vacant, overgrown field off Shelby Street.

“Crews did a wonderful job locating the fire and extinguishing it quickly once on scene, but the car was almost completely burned out,” said Shift Commander Daryl Alexander.

John Gebo, 27, and Crystal Schulz, 38, were captured and charged with criminal
conspiracy, setting fire to personal property, and filing a false
report.

Gebo is being held on $11,000 bond.

Schulz is being held on $8,500 bond.

Both remain at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. Their hearing is set for October 1.
