The wife of a man who died in a fatal car accident on Saturday is speaking out on his behalf.
Kay Hendrix of La Vergne lost her husband, Gary, in an early morning, multi-vehicle crash.
She said that Gary, 66, was on his way to pick up their daughter from her 10-year class reunion.
“I just want everyone to know he didn't cause this wreck. He wasn't drinking and didn't cause this wreck. He was trying to be a responsible parent and father,” Hendrix explained.
The accident occurred when Tavares Natt drove the opposite direction in westbound lanes, striking Hendrix's SUV head-on.
“He was my rock. I can't drive because I have MS, and he never missed an appointment,” his wife said.
Hendrix is survived by his wife, children, friends and family, all who mourn his loss.
“He was a very kind person. Selfless. He would do anything for anybody. He spent over 40 years in the Air National Guard,” Kay Hendrix said.
Natt, 37, also died as a result of the collision.
