Former UT football player Erik Ainge was arrested early Sunday morning on DUI charges.
According to a report by WATE, a Knoxville police officer noticed a GMC Sierra swerving in and out of traffic on Interstate 40 West near the West Hills exit at about 1:15 a.m.
Ainge failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI, implied consent, and roadway lane violation.
He was the quarterback for University of Tennessee, Knoxville from 2004 to 2007.
He was drafted to the New York Jets in 2008, but was suspended for a drug policy violation in 2009. He never returned to the NFL.
Ainge told WATE that he is innocent and has been sober for more than three years.
He was released just after 5 a.m. on a $500 bond.
