A family-friendly experience has hit the pavement in east Nashville this summer.
Riff's Food Truck Jam takes place every Friday night in the parking lot of 400 Main Street.
The event features at least 15 food trucks, live music, a Yazoo beer tent and even a kids zone.
“Food trucks are a part of so many different events. We thought, ‘It's time food trucks have their own event!' and we figured, why not be the ones to start it?” said B.J. Lofback, event organizer, owner of Riffs Fine Street Food, and president of Nashville Food Truck Association.
It is held in a wide, open space for attendees to roam around, and is also close to ample parking.
The music is provided by local and emerging bands and songwriters from around the city.
A rotating line-up of Nashville Food Truck Association members will offer a variety of food for purchase as well.
Nashville's News 2 spoke with Hunter Briley who runs the Music City Pie Truck Co. He said they have all kinds of pies, from savory to sweet.
“This is a roasted pork shoulder in
vegetables, and bacon white bean gravy and rowed tomato whiskey sauce over the
top of that; and that's the peach cobbler and lemon curd for the sweet side,” he said, explaining their pies.
Lofback noted that Nashville residents love their food trucks, and the culture surrounding street food continues to grow.
He continued, “When I consider cities like Portland or Austin and how they truly celebrate street food, I knew we needed to do something on our own that centered around us as food trucks. An event like this was an essential next step.”
