A firefighter collapsed from heat exhaustion while battling a blaze at a west Nashville home early Tuesday morning.
Crews were called just before 5 a.m. to the 900 block of Bresslyn Road near Charlotte Pike and Interstate 40.
Flames were visible and the home was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived on the scene.
However, they were able to put the fire out shortly after.
Neighbors told Nashville's News 2 they are unsure if someone lived inside the home, which was vacant when crews went inside.
One firefighter collapsed from heat exhaustion in the front yard while extinguishing the flames.
Crew members immediately took care of him and removed his protective gear, giving him cold water to drink to cool him down.
He was transported to the hospital as a precaution and is expected to be fine.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
