A Target employee has been arrested after a store manager noticed his cash drawer had major shortages.
The thefts occurred between June 30 and July 5 at the business located in the Nashville West shopping center at 6814 Charlotte Pike.
The store manager reported that she began looking into an employee, Tracy Boyd, after noticing that his drawer at the end of the night would come up short.
After checking surveillance video, the manager saw Boyd putting money onto gift cards for his friends without collecting payment.
Boyd put $1,000 on four gift cards and $5 on another without anyone paying for them.
The store manager also noticed the employee was ringing up merchandise for his friends without taking payment.
Those false purchases totaled $1,852.
All of the events were caught on the store's surveillance cameras.
Boyd is charged with theft of merchandise over $1,000 and less than $10,000, which is classified as a felony.
