A 34-year-old convicted felon was taken into police custody after he purchased one kilogram of cocaine from undercover officers.

Undercover agents met Bruce Butler at a south Nashville motel on Tuesday after receiving information he was looking to buy a significant amount of cocaine.

After inspecting the illegal drug brought by officers, Butler decided to purchase the kilogram for $29,000.

He was taken into police custody after the cocaine and cash exchanged hands. Police also seized $6,000 from Butler.

He is charged with engaging in a drug conspiracy and possession of the kilogram of cocaine for resale.

Police also arrested 38-year-old Harry Summers who accompanied Butler to the deal. He is charged with engaging in a drug conspiracy and possessing smaller amounts of cocaine and marijuana, as well as three counts of failure to appear in court.

Butler is jailed in lieu of a $300,000, while Summers is being held in lieu of a $385,000 bail.
