Predators put veteran Hal Gill on waivers

After taking a defenseman in the first round of the NHL Draft Sunday the Nashville Predators parted ways with veteran Hal Gill on Tuesday.

General Manger David Poile announced the decision at a morning press conference.

The Preds acquired the 38-year old in a 2012 trade with the Montreal Canadiens during a playoff push. Gill didn't register a single point in 32 games last season.

With Seth Jones, Ryan Ellis and Jonathan Blum, the Predators have three first round picks battling for ice time with veterans Shea Weber, Kevin Klein and Roman Josi, who are already in place.

Should Gill not be claimed off waivers, Poile says the Predators will re-evaluate their options on what to do with Gill.
