NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Steve Moore, CEO of the Country Music Association and longtime board member, has resigned after nearly four years serving in the position.
Moore said in a news release on Monday that he wanted to step aside and pursue other corporate and philanthropic opportunities. The resignation was effective on Sunday.
No immediate replacement has been named.
He has been on the association's board of directors since 1989 and served as president in 2008 and chairman in 2009. He served as interim CEO after former CEO Tammy Genovese resigned in December 2009.
The association said Moore was instrumental in securing a new long-term extension with the ABC Television Network, which airs the annual CMA Awards. He also created the CMA Foundation, which donates money and instruments to the Metro Nashville public school system.
