A Sparta husband and wife were taken into police custody over the weekend after they allegedly assaulted the man's mother at her Cookeville residence.
According to a report in the Herald Citizen, the incident involving 32-year-old Donald Coffman and 23-year-old Tiffany Coffman occurred on Saturday at a home on Buffalo Valley Road.
The newspaper reported the victim noticed her medication was missing while the couple was at her home doing laundry.
The woman reported to police when she confronted her son about the medicine he allegedly placed her in a headlock and told his wife to “come over here and beat this b*!^% while I hold her.”
Before she escaped Tiffany allegedly began hitting the woman in the back while her husband held her in a headlock.
After escaping, the newspaper reported the woman ran outside and yelled for her neighbor to call police.
Donald and Tiffany Coffman fled the home before police arrived on the scene.
They were found hiding in a wooded area.
Donald Coffman is charged with domestic assault, evading arrest, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $2,500.
Tiffany Coffman is charged with domestic assault and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $1,500.
Both are scheduled to appear in court July 22.
