A Cookeville man was taken into police custody earlier this week after he fired shots at his dog for eating a portion of his couch, endangering two nearby workers.
The Herald Citizen reported the incident involving Todd Carpenter occurred on Tuesday afternoon at a home located on Shipley Road.
The newspaper reported the bullets went through his wall and through a neighboring apartment wall, where two painters were working.
Neither the workers nor canine was injured in the incident.
Responding officers recovered two guns from Carpenter's home.
