KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Students in the University of Tennessee system will spend 6% more in tuition under a fiscal 2014 budget approved by the board of trustees.

The Knoxville News Sentinel reports the nearly $2 billion budget approved Thursday in Knoxville includes a pay bump of 1.5% across the board for faculty and staff. Chancellors of UT Knoxville and UT Martin will both receive 10% pay increases and Joe DiPietro, the UT system president, will receive a 4.5% increase.

The tuition increases will mean UT Knoxville undergraduate students will pay $8,270 a year for in-state tuition, up $468. Graduate students from the state will pay $9,540, or $540 more a year. The undergraduate in-state tuition will increase by $343 and $358 at UT Chattanooga and UT Martin, respectively.
