A local restaurant owner is citing their participation on a reality TV show as a reason for their shutdown.

Cajun eatery Chappy's on Church is closed for the time being according a post on Facebook and a notice on the restaurant's door. The sign said the restaurant was being seized by the state because of nonpayment of Tennessee State taxes .

The Facebook post read in part, “Nashville's been great to us and we love all our customers! This is a very sad day since we have worked so hard. We shouldn't have done Kitchen Nightmares.”

The restaurant's owner, John Chapman, said the restaurant known for its Creole cuisines had been struggling for several months while trying to come out of a negative situation.

Chapman and his wife, Starr, moved to Nashville after Hurricane Katrina. The two and their restaurant appeared on Kitchen Nightmares in March.

The statement also said that plans are forthcoming, and they're taking a break by spending time with family.
