A 41-year-old man is charged with stealing a firefighter's wallet while he was out on a recent call.
Police said Robert Wagner surrendered to authorities after his parents recognized him in surveillance video broadcast on television.
Wagner reported to police that he ran out of gas near the fire hall located on 2nd Avenue South on May 18 and went inside the station.
During their investigation, detectives learned victim's credit card was used soon after to purchase two cartons of cigarettes at the Kroger on Monroe Street.
Wagner recorded by video surveillance purchasing the cigarettes.
He is jailed in lieu of $5,000 bond on charges of burglary and fraudulent use of a credit card.
Wagner has a past record that includes charges such as possession of a controlled substance and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
