Nashville Mayor Karl Dean cut the ribbon at a new fire station in Joelton Wednesday morning.

The new facility, which is located in the 3700 block of Old Clarksville, was built on old farm land across the street from the former station.

The fire station is designed to be energy efficient, blend into the neighborhood and last for mo than 50 years.

Officials added they hope the building earns its LEED certification.
