A longtime firefighter is retiring after serving the community for more than 30 years.
Mark Gandee has been with the Maury County Fire Department since 1980. The now chief told Nashville's News 2 he first began in the department as a volunteer.
Gandee is set to retire at the end of the month.
“I plan on fishing. For the last five years, I pushed that aside and I'm going to the river some and spending time with family and doing some fishing to catch up on that,” he said.
Gandee, who said his retirement is bittersweet, has served as chief for the past five years.
