An armed robber allegedly apologized to a store clerk four different times while stealing money to pay his rent.
The incident occurred on Wednesday morning at a Mapco in Goodlettesville.
The suspect walked into the store and discreetly pulled a pistol on the clerk then demanded $2,000 in money orders.
Authorities said that a witness realized what was going on and followed him out of the store while the clerk called 911.
Surveillance footage shows the suspect run to a nearby parking lot and flee in his girlfriend's silver Saturn.
According to police, she had no knowledge of the crime.
Shortly after, officers in Madison spot his car and arrest him easily.
Police said the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Frankie Swindell Jr, robbed the store because he was behind on his bills.
“He was about $2,000 behind on his rent,” Detective Les Carlisle said.
Carlisle also said that Swindell is very educated.
“He basically said, ‘Hey I made a bad decision',” the detective explained.
Swindell is the son of one-time Nashville boxer Frankie Swindell Sr. who, decades ago, fought Michael Moorer for the WBA Lite Heavyweight title.
“You could tell had been brought up correctly. Every question I asked, he would respond ‘yes sir' or ‘no sir',” Carlisle said.
Authorities said Swindell is one of the politest armed robbers they've met.
Swindell Jr. is charged with one count of aggravated robbery and one count of aggravated assault.
He has no past criminal record.
