Metro Council voted on Mayor Dean's budget Tuesday night and approved it.
The budget included a $746 million allocation for Metro Schools, $18 million less than what the Board of Education had requested.
According to officials, the Board of Education will now go back to drawing board to try and conform with the mayor's funding.
In a statement released by the Director of Schools, Jesse Register said that the budget will put pressure on the district since it is less than requested.
“By the end of June, the Board of Education will approve a revised budget that puts the needs of our 82,000 students first,” Register continued.
