A 46-year-old Harpeth Hall soccer coach remains hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after he attempted to commit suicide in his jail cell.
According to authorities George “Rico” Laise was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville early Wednesday morning.
According to Carla West from the Davidson County Sheriff's Department, Laise attempted to hang himself.
He is expected to survive and will be taken back to his cell following his release from the hospital.
Laise was arrested on Tuesday at Harpeth Hall for allegedly engaging in a year-long sexual relationship with an underage girl.
He has since been placed on a leave of absence following the investigation.
He also remains held on $300,000 bond.
