Spring Hill police have identified two suspects involved in a weekend stabbing in the parking lot of a busy shopping center.
The incident happened at The Crossings of Spring Hill around 6:45 p.m. Saturday.
According to police, a 19-year old man was stabbed in the chest. He tried to drive to the hospital but only made it to a nearby gas station where he pulled over to call 911 for help.
“Please hurry,” he begged the operator.
“Take a deep breath,” the operator told the man. “What part of your body are you stabbed in?”
“I think my lung is punctured. That's why I'm not breathing normal,” said the victim.
The man was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
On Wednesday afternoon, investigators said two juveniles were apprehended,
Police said the victim was stabbed by a 16-year old male and a 17-year old was in the car.
“It's a great relief to get these kids off the street that did a heinous act like this over money,” said Lt. Justin Whitwell.
The two suspects were allegedly trying to steal the victim's wallet and cash during an argument.
There are no other suspects in the case.
Police said the stabbing appears to be an isolated incident.
The victim is in stable condition and is expected to be ok.
