Country star Willie Nelson recently celebrated his 80th birthday by helping raise more than $120,000 for two Texas towns devastated by last month's fertilizer plant explosion, according to TheBoot.com.

Nelson, who is from Abbott, Texas, gave the West Volunteer Fire Department an $81,000 check, while the town of Abbott received a check for $40,000 on Monday.

“There are a lot of our friends and loved ones and neighbors down there. We talked to some of them and some of them made it out okay, and some of them didn't, but they're strong and they'll be back. It's one of those things you don't get over. But you will get through it,” Nelson told The Boot.

More than a dozen people were killed and over 200 others were injured in the fertilizer blast that occurred on April 17.

The cause of the blast remains under investigation.
