A Manchester father says his daughter was viciously attacked at school.
Last Friday, Bart DiNovo said his daughter, Beronica, was beaten up in a hallway at Coffee County Central High School.
The fight was captured on video. In the video, another female student is seen walking up to the victim and pulling her hair before pulling her to the ground and throwing punches.
A group of students can also be seen surrounding the girls, recording the brawl on cell phone cameras, however nobody steps in to help or stop the punches.
A student posted a video of the fight on Facebook for many to see, including the victim's father.
“I was mad,” said DiNovo. “You feel like you can't protect your own child.”
DiNovo said his 15-year-old daughter is the victim of bullying.
“It's been going on with this girl since she was in middle school,” he said.
According to the father, his daughter has complained to school leaders but nothing has been done.
DiNovo said his daughter has a black eye and is terrified to go back to school.
“I understand when she goes to school the school is responsible for her so they should be there. They should be looking out for every student in there,” said DiNovo.
According to the father, the other girl was suspended for a few days.
Nashville's News 2 contacted Coffee County authorities, who said the attacker in the incident was charged with assault by a school resource officer on Friday.
School officials have yet to comment.
