A Portland mother is fighting back with words after a teenage girl beat up her daughter during a fight captured on video.
The incident occurred Tuesday on West Market Street.
Detectives said that two 13-year-old girls were fighting over a boy.
Video of the incident was posted online and spread all over Facebook.
The video eventually came to the attention of detectives, who arrested the sixth grade girl who threw the punches.
The victim's mother, Raquel Graham, knew about the fight, but had not seen the video until it was aired on Nashville's News 2.
“I was horrified. I thought she could have been killed,” said Graham.
She said her daughter is the victim of bullying and now she fears for her safety.
“This is crazy. This shouldn't be happenin. Bullying needs to be stopped,” said Graham.
The other girl was taken into police custody Thursday and charged with simple assault.
Graham said her daughter suffered scratches and bruises all over her body and was taken to the hospital after the fight.
The mother of the other girl contacted Nashville's News 2 and said her daughter was simply “defending herself.”
