Two men remained jailed after they allegedly swallowed $5,000 worth of heroin during a traffic stop in Franklin earlier this week.
Christian Barrios Serrano, 20, and 32-year-old Mauricio Angel were taken into custody on Monday morning after police noticed them acting suspiciously in the parking lot of a Cool Springs business.
Officers initiated a stop after the pair exited the parking lot.
During the stop at Moore's and Mallory lanes, officers discovered evidence of a drug transaction.
Authorities said during an interview at police headquarters investigators became concerned Serrano and Angel may have swallowed heroin in an effort to hide it from arresting officers.
Both men where then transported by ambulance from police headquarters to Williamson Medical Center where more than 50 balloons containing the illegal drug were discovered.
Police also recovered $2,300 in cash.
Following their release from the hospital, the pair was transported to the Williamson County jail where they remain jailed.
Both are scheduled to appear in court next Thursday.
