The public is invited to a Marshall County nursery this weekend where a unique program has helped several middle school students grow more than just a garden.
Kathy Stapleton is a special education teacher at Lewisburg Middle School in Lewisburg. She is also the coordinator of the school's nonprofit nursery.
The program provides special education students to work in the nursery, learning every part of the daily operation from planting to running the cash register.
The nursery is open to the public where customers can purchase a variety of flowers and plants at discounted prices.
Their “oops” plants are plants students forgot to label. Customers love them for the surprise factor and since they're sold for under $1.
The nursery is open to the public Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, they will hold a one-day sale from 9 a.m. until Noon.
