After adding 20 players to the roster the Tennessee Titans are apparently ready to do some trimming.
The team released wide receiver Lavelle Hawkins Wednesday afternoon.
Hawkins had a breakout season with 47 catches in 2011 and was rewarded with a new contract.
He followed it up with only five catches last season though and with the addition of Justin Hunter and Kevin Walter was on the wrong end of a numbers game.
The team will save almost $2 million by releasing Hawkins.
The Titans could save over $4 million more if they also decide to part ways with Nate Washington.
Reports were they were trying to shop Washington before the draft. After the draft General Manager Ruston Webster indicated there were no plans to release him in the immediate future.
