Several La Vergne neighborhoods experienced flash flooding after hours of rain Saturday.
At least two families were evacuated from their homes due to rising waters.
“It didn't get into my home,” said resident Traci Short. “But it was enough to scare me.”
One roadway was closed for part of the day.
An underpass near the intersection of George Chaney Road and Old Nashville Highway was closed while crews worked to clear out clogged drains. That road has since been reopened.
“We've just got some drains that, with all the rain we've had today, they're just not draining right,” said La Vergne Public Works Manager Garlon Russell.
There were no reports of homes taking in water.
La Vergne police officers, including SWAT team members, did routine checks on residents in flood-prone areas to monitor water levels and evacuate people if necessary.
