KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Darius Thompson, a 6-foot-4 guard from Murfreesboro, Tenn., has signed a national letter of intent to play for Tennessee.
The university announced the addition of Thompson on Wednesday, the first day of the spring signing period.
Thompson averaged 16.4 points, 6.4 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 2.3 steals this season while leading Blackman High School to a 30-1 season and an appearance in the Tennessee Class AAA state quarterfinals. Blackman went 56-5 in Thompson's final two seasons.
Thompson is the son of Lonnie Thompson, the head coach at Cumberland University, an NAIA program in Lebanon, Tenn.
Thompson is the fourth member of Tennessee's 2013-14 freshman class. Guards Robert Hubbs and Travon Landry and swingman A.J. Davis signed with the Volunteers in November.
