COLUMBIA, Tenn. (AP) – Commuters are being offered a new stylish way to travel in Maury County.
Sanford Potts, transportation director for the South Central Tennessee Development District and its South Central Area Transit Service, says the classically outfitted trolley buses were offered by an East Tennessee town free of charge after a transit project didn't work out.
The Columbia Daily Herald reports the two vehicles have fully enclosed oak interiors, wood bench seats, decorative cast iron seat frames, chrome handrails and arched glass windows.
Potts said the trolleys' route this summer will match their old-fashioned look.
They'll travel in a loop from Mount Pleasant to Columbia to Spring Hill, making multiple stops in each city, much as the old Polly Bus Line did decades ago.
