Clarksville police have charged a man with criminal homicide for the death of his 60-year-old mother.
Police were called to a home in the 700 block of Central Avenue after Ethel Adamson was found with a head injury and unconscious Sunday morning.
Adamson was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville where she died on Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities said Adamson's 42-year-old son, Lee Watts, was developed as a suspect early in the investigation as police found inconsistencies with information he gave investigators.
During the course of the investigation it was determined Watts had hit his mother in the head with a hammer before he left her home with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Watts was booked into the Montgomery County jail on a $500,000 bond Saturday for criminal homicide.
