Volunteers with the American Red Cross in Middle Tennessee are heading to Mississippi to help with storm relief efforts.

Workers from both Nashville and Clarksville will provide assistance to those affected by tornadoes that hit eastern Mississippi on Thursday.

Emergency officials are continuing to assess neighborhoods. Residents in heavily damaged areas have yet been permitted back in their homes.

Middle Tennessee Red Cross workers also responded to another tornado disaster in Mississippi in February.
