An American art treasure being is being celebrated across the nation and in Music City Thursday.
The Barbershop Harmony Society is celebrating its 75th birthday across the country, including a celebration at the Nashville Arcade.
The public is invited to the free celebration, which will feature the sweet sounds of strolling quartets and 75 birthday cakes.
Mayor Karl Dean will be on hand to proclaim it Barbershop Harmony Week.
The Barbershop Harmony Society has been a great addition to the Nashville community with its headquarters on 7th Avenue between Commerce Street and Broadway for the last six years.
The BHS has had a presence in Nashville since 1948 in the form of the Music City Chorus and its affiliated quartets.
They are currently the seventh best chorus in the world, with three quartets ranked in the top 10 internationally.
The Nashville chapter, The Music City Chorus and Quartets, will be performing April 27 2013 at Ingram Hill at Vanderbilt University.
