Some Nashville fathers celebrated a unique graduation day on Saturday.
About 30 Dads completed the “Father Class” sponsored by the Metro Health Department's new life program.
The eight week course works with fathers to give them skills and resources needed to be a successful parent.
Robert Taylor, spokesperson, said “You have a lot of young men out there that haven't grown up with a father figure in their household. So what we try to do is provide some of the education that they would need to be able to be the fathers that we know that they can be and be able to raise their children up in a healthy and safe environment.”
The new life program is a three year program funded by federal grant money.
They primarily work with fathers in east and north Nashville but hope to expand to other parts of the city.
