Local businesses got an economic boost this weekend from thousands of visitors, partygoers and basketball fans.
The 2013 SEC Men's Basketball Tournament was Wednesday through Sunday at Bridgestone Arena.
The tournament was just one of two major events taking place this weekend, the second was St. Patrick's Day.
Local bars and restaurants hosted celebrations all weekend long.
It's the biggest day of the year for Dan McGuinness, an Irish pub on Demonbreun Street.
The doors opened at nine o'clock Sunday morning for breakfast. The pub put on an all day party with live music, deals on food and of course, beer.
Nashville resident Bob Saporiti has been coming to the celebration every year for the past decade.
“It has great music and great beer. It's the best pub in town,” he told Nashville's News 2.
Saporiti and Denise Fussell wore green wigs to the celebration.
“It's St. Patrick's Day so we did a little something to our hair,” joked Saporiti.
The extra business was also good for the pub's bottom line.
“It's a good day for everybody who works here. It lets us do some more things throughout the year,” said owner Quinn O'Sullivan.
The Davidson County Sheriff's Department provided safe, sober rides throughout the weekend.
