Metro police responded to two separate robberies at two Nashville convenience stores Wednesday.

The first incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. at the Mapco in the 2400 block of Elm Hill Pike, not far from the Nashville International Airport.

According to police, a black male suspect armed with a handgun entered the store and demanded money from the clerk.

The clerk complied and the suspect fled from the store. His direction of flight was unknown.

A K9 unit was called in to track the suspect but was unsuccessful.

Police are reviewing surveillance video of the robbery.

The second incident was called in just before 2:30 a.m. at a Circle K store in the 2200 block of Nolensville Pike in south Nashville.

Officials told Nashville's News 2 a black male suspect armed with a handgun entered the store.

He approached the clerk and demanded money. After taking money from the register, he made the clerk lie on the ground.

He then fled from the store.

It was not immediately clear if the two robberies are related.

No further details were immediately released.
