Clarksville police arrested a woman for driving under the influence on Wednesday night after she ignored an officer's direction and crashed her vehicle into a stationary patrol car before hitting a wrecker truck head-on.

The incident involving Mandy May, 29, occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Tiny Town Road near Peachers Mill Road as officers were working a two-car accident.

Due to the accident, police had westbound traffic on Tiny Town Road blocked off and was directing traffic.

Police reported that May was exiting a parking lot and ignored officer commands that were directing her to go straight onto Peachers Mill Road.

Instead of going straight, May turned right, heading towards the crash scene.

She then sideswiped a parked patrol car before crashing into a wrecker truck head-on.

Tow-truck driver Don Scolma told Nashville's News 2 he was working the accident.

“I just got hooked up to the car and I heard a crash,” said Scolma. “I stepped back and looked and [saw] the police car kind of move a little bit. In that split second, next thing I know that little red car was in the front of my tow truck.”

Scolma told Nashville's News 2 there were other people just a few feet away from his wrecker.

“We're just lucky she hit my truck instead of [them],” explained Scolma, “She could've seriously hurt somebody.”

The truck suffered minimal damage.

May was not injured in the accident.

Officers reported she had bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech and smelled of alcohol. She also performed poorly on a field sobriety test.

She is charged with DUI among other charges and was jailed on a $2,000 bond.
