Acting on a citizen's tip, Metro detectives conducted an investigation that led to the arrest of a wanted thief.
Billy Smith, 36, a parolee, was wanted for stealing commercial equipment from Consolidated Pup Supply at 1500 County Hospital Road on February 18.
Police responded to an online ad placed by Smith who was attempting to sell a commercial paint sprayer for $2,000, a piece of equipment that is valued at $6,000.
Also at Smith's home were the other items reported stolen from the north Nashville business, such as a pressure washer, generator and hydraulic lift.
Smith is now charged with three counts of felony theft.
He has multiple theft, burglary and reckless endangerment convictions in Dickson, Williamson and Sumner counties.
A parole violation warrant is expected to be filed against him as well.
