Commissioners in Mt. Juliet will discuss regulations regarding the city's new liquor store laws.
Mt. Juliet residents voted to allow liquor stores within the city limits in last November's general election.
City commissioners decided earlier to allow a maximum of three liquor stores.
Deputy city manager Sheila Luckett told Nashville's News 2 that they have received 11 applications.
“We can have up to three, it's based on population” she said. “One store per 8,000 population and we have close to 25,000 in population. So we can have three.”
The deadline for applications was February 22.
Nashville's News 2 asked Luckett when the first liquor store will open.
“I think it depends on which applicant is approved, if the store is already a business there or if it has to be built,” she replied.
Luckett added that once the Alcoholic Beverage Commission looks at the applications on March 12, they will then be forwarded to the Board of Commissioners for their approval.
