H.G. Hill Realty and GBT Realty Corporation have abandoned their proposal for the Streets of Brentwood development.
In a statement posted online, developers said they advised city leaders of their plans Friday morning, stating that moving forward, given a small but vocal opposition to the project, would be difficult.
“The development team sincerely thanks its supporters for joining in our vision for a ‘Town Center' style project. We appreciate your support,” the statement concluded.
The 17-acre 970,000 square foot town center was proposed for the former Murray Ohio headquarters property and land where the current Tennessee Baptist Convention Center sits near the intersection of Maryland Way and Franklin Road.
Office space, residential living space, retail shops, restaurants and a movie theatre were included in the proposal.
