Three families of Ft. Campbell soldiers who were killed in Afghanistan were given mortgage free home by Home for our Troops and Bank of America on Friday.
The wives of Army Specialist Scott Jirtle, Specialist Blaine Redding and Specialist Anthony Vargas all received homes during the special ceremony.
Bank of America has already provided 50 homes to military families across the state.
“These are homes that have either been in foreclosure or abandonment and we have if needed fixed them up so we turn the keys over to essentially a brand new home for a family but most importantly a brand new start for the families,” explained John Stein, Tennessee President of Bank of America.
Recipient Luisa Vargas' new home is located in Carthage, Tennessee. She told Nashville's News 2 she is very thankful for a mortgage free home.
“It means a future for my family. It means rebuilding our lives and security. A place to call home,” said Vargas.
New homeowner Nikki Redding added she misses her husband every day, but is very thankful for the new home.
“I can't even put into words how incredible it is to know that I have that financial freedom to be able to finish school and do all these things that we set for ourselves. I can finish [school] now and make him proud,” said Redding.
Bank of America has committed to providing 1,000 homes to families of injured or fallen military families.
