GREENFIELD, Tenn. (AP) – Two west Tennessee men have been killed and the son of one of the victims is being held in connection to their deaths.

According to WCMT Radio in Martin, 61-year-old David McAllister was killed when he was run over with a pickup truck on Wednesday.

Weakley County authorities identified the driver as McAllister's 40-year-old son, Eric McAllister of Greenfield.

Sheriff Mike Wilson said 51-year-old Tim Betts was next door feeding cattle and saw the elder man lying in the road. He came to help him and Wilson said Eric McAllister fatally shot Betts.

The sheriff said Eric McAllister also fired at his brother, Raymond McAllister, but the elder brother returned fire and hit Eric McAllister in the hip.

The younger brother was treated at a hospital and taken into custody.

Charges are pending.
